CBE TO CONDUCT TIMELY MIND-SHARE ON
ASSESSMENT AND RATING OF LEARNING OUTCOMES
The Coalition for Better Education (CBE) will soon be holding its second Mind-Share Session for the year. Mind-share sessions are regularly conducted with the hope of infusing additional learnings that would keep our members and partners abreast and updated with current educational trends.
Relevant to DepEd’s K to 12 Program, this particular mind-share is deemed timely as it will focus on the Assessment and Rating of Learning Outcomes. Assessment has a very important purpose in learning, such as for grading and knowing the level of mastery of competencies of the students. DepEd Order No. 31, or the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of Grades 1 to 10 of the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum states that…”Assessment is a holistic process, with emphasis on the formative and developmental purpose of quality assuring student learning”. This session, therefore, aims to:
- Define or distinguish the position of student work compared with other learners;
- Evaluate the results of study of students in order to help learners understand themselves, make decisions about next steps, personality development, etc.;
- Help teachers determine the difficulties experienced by students and identify who needs remedials or enrichment; and,
- Obtain information that can predict how the performance of students can be improved in the next education level or in suitable employment.
Members and interested parties are invited to the above-mentioned session, on September 19, 2012, Wednesday, 4:00-7:00 PM, at the CBE-CefTEx Training Room, Cebu Normal University (CNU), Osmena Blvd., Cebu City. Registration is FREE. If you would like to avail of the materials, the assessment fee is P50.00 only.
