CBE ENGAGES IN NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH
RP ENERGY FOR I-TEACH TRAINING PROGRAM
RP Energy, a consortium composed of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) Power Generation Corp. and Aboitiz Power Corp. and based in Subic, Zambales, recently tapped CBE to be its training partner for their ICT Training Program for Teachers. Dubbed “i-Teach”, the program seeks to enhance the capabilities on teaching using ICT knowledge and skills of public high school teachers within the host communities of RP Energy, namely the municipalities of Subic and Castillejos and the City of Olongapo.
The first batch of the i-Teach training was conducted last November 12-16 at the Subic Bay Traveler’s Hotel in Subic, Zambales. The training was participated by 25 high school teachers representing 13 public high schools from the Divisions of Zambales and City of Olongapo. The teachers were made to undergo a rigorous training using the P21 Standards, on Authentic Assessment, Standards Development, ICT Integration and Project-based Learning (PBL) Approaches. By the end of the 5-day training, the teachers, who have been divided into five (5) groups), were tasked to prepare their own PBL projects for implementation in their respective schools.
Parallel to the training is the search for RP Energy’s i-Teacher of the Year Awardee. On the last day of the training, the top two (2) groups who made the best oral defense of their projects automatically qualified as the top 10 qualifiers of the i-Teacher plum. The top 10 are as follows: Mr. Bernard Cambe (Castillejos National High School), Mr. Emier Corpuz Jr. (Castillejos NHS), Mr. Clarence Hacuman (San Isidro High School), Ms. Mona Liza Abelon (Ilwas HS) and Ms. Daylyn Pere (Olongapo City NHS) of the Magna Vox Group; and Ms. Ma. Christina Bernal (Sergia Soriano Esteban Integrated School) , Ms. Cristal Mae Etura (Sergia Soriano Esteban IS), Ms. Marivie Alindayu Ilwas HS), Ms. Maricel Gatdula (Sto Tomas HS) and Mr. Argie Cristobal (Sergia Soriano Esteban IS) of the Avant Garde Group. The Magna Vox’s Project explored how student stress is related to academic performance, while the Avant Garde Project focused on the effectivity of an advertising campaign that will lead to healthy eating habits.
The best project implementer that will eventually be chosen shall be given an ICT Hub Package for the school he/she is representing. The competition shall be judged by CBE and RP Energy representatives and a winner shall be announced by December 6, 2012.
